VVRC Visit the Cavalier Centre

Sunday 10th November 2019 saw a small group of members attend the brand-new Cavalier Centre to have a go on the mechanical horse. The Cavalier Centre is a new RDA facility near Much Wenlock with an indoor 70m x 30m arena, an outdoor arena and an all-weather track, providing facilities for disabled people of all ages to take part in therapeutic riding, vaulting, hippotherapy (physiotherapy on horseback) and carriage driving.
Patsy Pyke was our instructor and I think it’s true to say we all enjoyed our session very much. We started off with some exercises to improve our posture. This, whilst the horse was walking, trotting and cantering. Then we had to do other exercises to show we were secure in the saddle – doing transitions both up and down whilst holding a ball on a flat board and not losing it!! Finally, we all had a go at trying to ride a simulated dressage test – the horse was a little hard to master to start with but I think most of us got there in the end. I have to say I find the real thing easier to steer!!
We also managed to have a little look around the new centre established for the RDA. The arena is fabulous and all the other facilities superb. A huge thank you to Patsy for her enthusiasm and instruction. All the instructing she does is voluntary so all the monies paid go straight to the running of the centre. Thank you to Patsy, also to those who came; Meg, Sue B, Kat, Gaynor, and Jackie H.

Christmas Cracker Show

Christmas Crackers 2019

Despite it being a freezing cold and windy day with intermittent rain and hail showers, Christmas Crackers was great fun, as always.
Some members went to incredible efforts to dress themselves and their trusty steeds up in Christmas attire. In comparison, I felt like a bit of a cop-out in my giant Christmas pudding onesie, although possibly quite snuggly compared to others, even though King Dave and I did our show in sideways hail stones
There was a lovely mix of members with horses in-hand and ridden and it was fantastic to meet new members there too. Welcome, and I promise it’s not always so cold!
Thank you Elspeth for organising and the Burgoyne Family at Rhôs for hosting

Your Club Needs You!

As I am sure you are all aware when you join Vyrnwy Valley Riding Club part of your commitment is to do half a days help (4hrs). Last year only about 30% of our members did 95% of the help so it would be lovely to see more of you offering.

We are re introducing subsidies this year as we have managed to build up our funds a little. So for those of you doing more than the half day we will give out vouchers (£5 for the next 4 hrs and another £5 for the next 4 hrs). These can then be redeemed against a clinic/competition/Christmas meal etc

Below is a list of some of the events we will need help at during the next few months. Some are our local VVRC events and some are area events -again some local some far away.

Please contact the organiser if you are able to help at any of these.
Many thanks and here is to a horse filled 2020.
