Christmas Cracker Show

Christmas Crackers 2019

Despite it being a freezing cold and windy day with intermittent rain and hail showers, Christmas Crackers was great fun, as always.
Some members went to incredible efforts to dress themselves and their trusty steeds up in Christmas attire. In comparison, I felt like a bit of a cop-out in my giant Christmas pudding onesie, although possibly quite snuggly compared to others, even though King Dave and I did our show in sideways hail stones
There was a lovely mix of members with horses in-hand and ridden and it was fantastic to meet new members there too. Welcome, and I promise it’s not always so cold!
Thank you Elspeth for organising and the Burgoyne Family at Rhôs for hosting

Team Showjumping Competition October 2018

We were blessed to have a lovely sunny morning in October for our team show jumping competition.   We had 11 teams and lots of enthusiastic supporters.

The atmosphere was wonderful, friendly and supportive of the riders.  It was a long course but rode well.  There were a few tumbles but nothing serious.
We had four heights for riders to choose from and in the smallest class, 60cms, I could hear shouts of  “ the red and white one next” and so on.  Nearly everyone joined in this shouting, the way to the younger riders and less experienced adults. Officials allowed this to happen as it all added to the fun.
There was great support for the higher classes as well and altogether it was a great day.  One of our teams  “The Brave Pants”  headed by Rita Griffiths won the competition. Well done “The Brave Pants”.
The other good news is that we made £240.00 for club funds

Showing Demo Evening

Showing Demo Evening

19th April 2016

We were blessed with a lovely evening for our showing demo at Oswestry EC on April 19th. The evening began with some demonstrations from Liane Roberts and Rachel Jones, both experienced showing riders who have competed numerous times at HOYS and RIHS.
They demonstrated correct turnout for different classes and how to show your horse or pony at their best in the ring.
We then saw a demonstration of how to ride a Working Hunter course.
Following this, Lisa Lake gave a very entertaining demo of how to groom for showing, with some fantastic tips for the professional look. Becky King brought along a range of tack, clothing and products and gave advice on what to wear for different classes. A very successful and popular evening it proved to be.
