Llanymynech Hunter Trials
We were very pleased with our Hunter Trials everything went very smoothly. Lovely weather, excellent ground conditions, over 300 competitors, fantastic band of workers, 85 in total. The doctor and paramedics had very little to do, a couple of tumbles and one slightly damaged finger, nothing serious. No horses were injured and everyone seemed to have a good day.
We made lots of money for the Brooke Hospital which helps the desperately needy working horses and donkeys of very poor people in third world countries by providing veterinary treatment, care and advice. We are also sending a donation to World Horse Welfare, formerly the ILPH, who are doing their utmost to help the poor horses who are forced to travel thousands of miles in dreadful conditions to be slaughtered in southern Italy.
Our Riding Club helpers were fantastic, and all volunteered without us having to send out a desperate plea for help!. Thank you all so much.
The Riding Club helpers were:
Julie Phillips – XC Steward
Jo Phillips – Starter
Lynn Lewis – In charge of minimus course
Rosemary Pyne and Carol Kynaston – Scorers
Helen Clark, Patsy Pyke and Deb Holland – Secretaries
Liz Bourne, Alison Dudding and Tara McDermott – Stewards
Sandra Meyhew and Jonathan Cumine – Timing
Hannah Lightwood, Mark Keaveny Shirley Jones and Mo Wilcox – Fence Judges
Amanda Hopwood – Gate
The rest of the helpers were locals and people from further afield. One ex-member of our club, Anne Agarwal came from Liverpool; they all came because they liked our causes. We certainly appreciated every one of them.
Lots of our members entered the various classes. We hope you all had fun, that is the reason we run the event plus the desire to help needy horses and donkeys wherever the need is greatest.
