Janet Warner and her lovely horse Nimbus, qualified for the winter Championships at Bury Farm on 14th April and came a magnificent 10th. Congratulations Janet for doing so well.
Summer Dressage League
We have had the first of our SDL competitions. This was very well attended and we had lots of new faces too. We are running these once a month until September and the member with the highest points will get the Pimm’s Trophy. Please come along and support for a relaxed friendly competition, plus a glass of Pimm’s.
Summer Area Competitions
The summer area dressage competition is on Sunday 29th July. This will be held at Rodbaston. As yet I am not sure if this will be on grass or surface arena but will confirm. As soon as the schedules are out, I will send details, but anyone who is interested in being on a team/taking part please contact me -firstname.lastname@example.org. We will not be doing specific team training this year but there are plenty of flatwork clinics being run that you can attend to brush up your skills, plus a ride through your test and get feed back clinic before the completion.
The dressage to music qualifiers are being held at Reaseheath on 18th August. Further details to follow.
It was a beautiful day and, at first glance the course in the nearest ring looked to me to be very simple with only a couple of fairly old easy fillers – then I realised that wasn’t ‘our’ ring and ours was FULL of VERY Spooky fillers with a twisty course on undulating ground, in addition vehicles travelled a road behind a hedge very close to a couple of the jumps!
Rachel Tudor – Davies on her lovely Fleur de Llys was our only representative in the 1m who jumped beautifully but unfortunately just as they turned for a jump a van appeared behind the hedge just by the jump causing a spook and Rachel had to circle to represent and possibly causing them to have one down in the first round. In the second round they just had one down.
The 80 cms team was made up by Helen Hathaway (Bechan Delinquent), Justine James (Coffee), Paula Jeffreson (My Golden Lily) and a VERY last minute substitute (thank you!) Myfanwy Powell (My Welcome Rebel).
Jump 1 caused lots of problems for riders including Justine (4 & 4) and Myfi (Clear & 4), Paula’s (beautiful) Lily was unfortunately a bit overawed by the fillers but Helen’s Del boy went brilliantly clear in both rounds and ended up WINNING!
Helen went on to represent the club at the RC Championships and jumped their most technical round to date with only 4 faults in each round – a great effort when there were only six double clears out of over 100 competitors!
Could I thank the riders who took part in the Summer area show jumping – you were all a super group of riders and great fun to be around – without giving me a moment of stress as you were all on time and well prepared; also to your support teams (your mums Gaynor, Karen and Gill) and of course Kat Morgan who has supported everyone so brilliantly and went to the championships with Helen.
Having watched the ‘Style & Performance’ competitions it would be brilliant if we could perhaps include these classes in the future – the courses are very simple and would be a great addition to the area competitions.
Our next team jumping will be for the Winter Area 80 cms competition at Southview on November 5th. Please do get in touch if you would like to be in a team – I will arrange a few ‘team bonding’ training sessions in the weeks beforehand. Please either email: email@example.com or pm me on fb

British Riding Clubs Dressage to Music Qualifier Championships 2015 Schedule
WOW what a fantastic result! One of our members, Sam Shaw-Davies, was placed 7th at the Festival of the Horse Championships at Aston Le Walls last weekend. I’m sure you’ll all agree with me that she and Mollie deserve a great big WELL DONE!
They qualified at area on March 21st at Radfords, coming 3rd in their arena with a 32 dressage and clear show jumping. They weren’t expecting to qualify but received a letter 3 weeks ago inviting them to the championships at Aston le Walls.
This was part of the Festival of The Horse which also incorporates the Express Eventing and the championships ran over Saturday and Sunday. They competed on the Sunday in the drizzle, after a 5:30am start but it was all worth it as Molly did a very sweet test and was scored with a 34 (the highest score being 27, so not much of a gap!) and then went on to do an amazing show jumping round, not bad for a 15hh 17yo ex racehorse!
Congratulations to them both!
