Inter-Club Show Jumping

This is just a reminder that we will be hoping to run another Inter-Club Show Jumping competition again this year with Dolfor Riding Club. The aim of this event is for ALL riders to have the opportunity to be able to compete for their club.
We usually start at about 50cm, but if people want to do a smaller first round that’s absolutely fine! The day will be catered for those who come to jump for their clubs, from poles on the ground to 1m60!! (I think that is the record James Dawson has set!!)
Every year we have a lot of fun, jumping successes and cake! We obviously couldn’t run this competition without our kind and generous helpers, so if you’d like to be involved in a local club event please let me know (we really, really appreciate you!)
I will let you know more information about the event as soon as possible. Hope to see lots of you there – we need to retain our winning trophy!! Kat

Inter-club Show Jumping 2017

This year’s Inter-Club Show Jumping was a lot of fun so thank you everyone who came and made it such a success! We had lots of new members jumping as well as members who only jump in public on very special occasions (shout out to my mum! proud daughter moment) and it was great seeing everyone jump for their club teams.
Thanks to VVRC members’ jumping successes on the day, we won the inter-club show jumping trophy for the second year in a row! Our competitor of the day was Babs Williams who earned the most points overall for the team. It was particularly fantastic to see Babs take home the prize because she has competed for us every year and it has been amazing to see her grow in confidence each time.
This competition couldn’t run without a squad of kind and helpful volunteers from both clubs who pole-pick, score, and go on arena gate duty. Big thanks to Sally Evans who kindly judged and commentated, and Gaynor Morgan who used her accounting skills to score for us again this year. Also, thanks needs to go to Jane Yorke who did a fabulous job of judging the style class for us.
We’re hoping to run the competition again next year. I really would like to stress that Polly (Dolfor RC rep) and I want to make this competition accessible to EVERYONE and jumps will be made as big or as small as they people who turn up to compete want to jump. This year we started at 45cm with a jump off at 50cm, but if people want poles on the ground to start with that’s absolutely fine! Our aim is to give everyone a chance to fly the flag for their club, and your club team will gain points just for you entering.
The classes we generally run are three normal rounds of show jumping with a jump off for clear rounds, at heights depending on what people want to jump. We also have an accumulator (1 minute to jump as many fences as you can), pairs (each partner jumps a shorter round of jumps (no one steal Heather, she’s my jumping partner!)), style class (not only do you need to leave the jumps up, you need to do it smartly), and chase-me-charlie (jumps go up and up – complete opposite to the limbo).
Look forward to seeing you all next year – lets go for three years in a row! Kat

Interclub Show Jumping Winter Report

Show Jumping Winter Report

Interclub Show-jumping – October 18th 2015
Thanks to everyone who attended the interclub show-jumping against Dolfor Riding Club! The riders were all absolutely fantastic and the helpers were very much appreciated.
Highlights included the pairs show-jumping and our own James Dawson and Charlie jumping a massive 1m 50 and making it look easy! Sally Evans’ trusty stead Sirius was stolen by her daughter Meg and came out of jumping retirement for the day: he thoroughly enjoyed himself winning numerous rosettes. Big Matt and El-speth jumped their biggest show jump to date and both looked rather pleased with themselves afterwards. It was lovely to see so many members supporting the event and I was really proud of you all!
Fantastic rounds were jumped by riders in both clubs and although we had been level pegging through most of the competition it was Vyrnwy Valley who won the trophy at the end of the day! Hurrah!
Thanks to: Sally and Gaynor who judged for us all day; Helen for being official photographer and capturing some beautiful pictures; Sue Burgoyne for hosting us at Rhos Farm; Polly from Dolfor for being joint-organiser with me (and providing the delicious cakes); and to everyone who jumped, supported and cheered us all along!

Inter-Club Showjumping Competition

Hello show jumpers!

Well done everyone who jumped today at the finale of Terry’s show jumping! And a BIG well done to Cassie who did a fantastic job of organising and running the event!

Please find attached the poster for the Interclub Show Jumping competition on 18th October: Vyrnwy Vs Dolfor! There’s classes and heights for EVERYONE and you earn points for your club just by participating! If you’d like to come along but not jump that’s great – we’ll have tea and cake as well as jumping 🙂 The aim is for it to be a fun day that everyone can get involved in on their trusty steeds 🙂

If you have any questions feel free to email me or message me on Facebook!

Really hope to see lots of you there!
