Area Horse Trial Qualifier at Somerford Park

This competition was originally planned to be at Llanymynech in June, but the terrible wet weather at the start of June meant that it could not run and had to be rearranged. This was a shame, as some of our members, who had originally entered, were unable to make the new date, but it was great that Meg and Helen were able to step in.

Area 20 joined Area 3 at Somerford Park in July. The 90 team, made up of Helen Hathaway, Janet Brereton and Shelly Colohan came 5th.

Myfi Powell had a fantastic double clear and Meg Higginson was thrilled to complete the 80cm as an individual.

Everyone enjoyed the day and the opportunity to compete at that venue. We would also like to thank our helpers, Tara Taylor and Sarah Hanmer who are not club members, but kindly helped for half a day each and thank you to Gill Powell for being chef d’equipe on the day.
Well done everyone
Ali Harper

VVRC Camp 2018

This year we held camp on the weekend of 15th – 17th June again at Berriewood.

After various problems with lame horses etc., we had 21 members attending.

Lots of fun was had and everyone enjoyed lessons including flatwork, pole-work, grids, show jumping, and cross country.

We made full use of all the wonderful facilities Berriewood offers. Our instructors -Sally Jackson, Janet Green, Elspeth Carr, Sarah Warner, Ticky Fletcher, and Nicky Shipp- all got the most out of people and hopefully everyone went home having learnt something.

The demo on Saturday by the Perry Vaulting group was much appreciated and some members even had a go. A new challenge for them.

Kat Morgan kindly came and did a yoga/stretch session which went down very well.

The food was from the Fox Inn and as usual was delicious and there was masses of it.

Huge thanks to Justine for much of the organising despite having just had little Hallie. Also huge thanks to Penny at Berriewood for being so helpful and accommodating as usual. Watch this space for next year’s camp dates.

VVRC AGM and Prize Giving

Our AGM and prize giving was held at The Bradford Arms in Llanymynech in February this year.
It was lovely to see so many of our members there supporting our club and we have many ideas and suggestions for this summer’s programme.
We also welcomed onto the committee Izzy Roberts as club secretary, Alison Ollier as Treasurer and Jane Yorke, who will be assisting with style and performance.
Karen Lawley and Babs Williams have become official helpers and will be running the showjumping from now on.
Heather Jones, Julie Phillips and Cassie Woods, who were standing down from committee, were thanked for their hard work and contributions to the club. The annual prize giving followed the AGM.
