Social evening walk June 2022
Back in June a few of us met up for a social evening in the sunshine, we met in Pant and went for a lovely walk around Llanymynech nature reserve.
We discovered a new path for all of us, even Anne who grew up in the area! It was a gorgeous evening and a lovely, relaxed way for us all to get to know each other a little better and chat as we wandered around the beautiful site of the reserve. Best of all, we were treated to some fantastic views out over Vyrnwy Valley riding club territory, and I even persuaded everyone to have a photo taken!
We have had a couple of social events so far this year and boy had we missed them!
It is so nice to be out and about again, catching up with other members and feeling more ‘normal’!
Here is a little round up of what’s been on so far and what is coming up next month.
In April a group of about 10 of us went to The Royal Hill in Melverley for Pizza night. They do this every Tuesday evening, and we make it a fairly regular social event because it’s always popular (who doesn’t enjoy eating pizza with friends?!) We had a lovely evening full of conversation, good food and lots and lots of laughs! It’s definitely a popular one and there will probably be another pizza night later in the year.
In May I organised to meet up at Kelsall Hill in Cheshire, to go around the farm ride and have a picnic afterwards. Three small groups set off in the beautiful sunshine across Kelsall’s wonderful property. It really is beautiful and great fun with fields to canter across, a woodland to wander through, plenty of cross-country jumps to have a go at and of course amazing scenery. Everyone had a brilliant time, the horses most of all, I think!
Once the horses were happily untacked and munching on their hay, riders and non-riders all sat down and enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine. We possibly even had a sneaky look around the amazing tack shop on site! It was a really enjoyable morning and thank you to those who came along.
We are hoping to do at least one more guided ride this year closer to VVRC home and have been talking about heading over to Somerford Park for their farm ride which is brilliant.
Next month we have another non-horsey social evening. We are doing a walk around Llanymynech rocks nature reserve. I don’t know the planned route yet, but it will be about an hour’s moderate walk. We can park in the small carpark behind The Cross Guns in Pant and then go there afterwards for a well-deserved drink. I will send out more details on email and via Facebook, so keep your eyes peeled. Remember that social events have a new email as well firstname.lastname@example.org
